This retreat is centered around a meditative painting approach working slowly, intuitively, and without pressure to perform or produce. Using heavily diluted acrylics, water, transparency, and layering, we explore painting as a contemplative process rather than a result-driven activity.
The focus is not on creating a “perfect” artwork, but on
being present with color, movement, and flow. Guided
sessions alternate with quiet time for individual
exploration, rest, and reflection. There is ample space to
pause, observe, and allow things to unfold naturally.

Johanne lives and works in Cologne.
She paints calm, meditative pictures with heavily diluted acrylic paints on canvas that, at first glance, look like watercolors.
Her painting process is calm, almost meditative, and this calmness is also transferred to the viewers of the works.
Often semi-abstract landscapes can be seen that invite the viewer to take a short break.
Her story:
After founding a bridal fashion label and running it for 18 years, she found her way back to painting during a deep life crisis.
She dreamed of starting to paint again and it was the best thing that could have happened to her. Creating something with her hands, being able to completely switch off her mind during the painting process, letting go and letting things happen on paper had a therapeutic healing effect on her and helped her through this difficult time.
This experience led her to study art therapy part-time, which she continue to do today. She finds it incredibly exciting and enriching to explore the impact of art, artistic creation, and the power of color on our well-being, our mind, and our soul. Many insights from her studies flow into her artistic work
